Cleaning a Wood Floor- A Simple Process
There is a great debate as to the best way for cleaning wood floor styles. Some people will post about certain household
items that can be used as cleaners and work effectively, while others will swear by chemical products produced by various manufacturers around the
world.
Even more people will say that you don't really need to clean a wood floor with anything more than a broom and a mop,
and occasionally wax it to keep it at its most protected and most beautiful state. Of course, the best method for cleaning them depends on the style that you
have.
Even with all of the finishing touches and clear coats that you put into traditional hardwood floors, they are still
very porous in many situations. Therefore, they should never be soaking wet, and should only be cleaned with a damp mop.
After all, it does you no good to have beautiful, amazing looking hardwood floors when you let the water soak into them
and allow them to rot away. No one can really say the best way to clean your floors, because it depends on the style that you have and the products that you
prefer.
Many hardwood floor experts will even tell you not to use wax or other scrubs on your hardwood floors. Instead they will
recommend you use dry cloths and area rugs in high-traffic spots to keep the floors in good shape. As far as cleaning floors goes, the proper maintenance and
prevention can do a lot to alleviate much of the cleaning that you would normally have to do.
Take the time daily to wipe up the floors, clean up spills immediately, use plastic or fabric slides underneath your
furniture, and keep the flooring out of direct sunlight so that it does not age as quickly.
As long as you take the time to care for your hardwood floors, you can keep them looking beautiful for many years to
come. Don't ever do anything to your floors as far as cleaning goes if you are not 100% positive that it won't harm them.
If you have any qualms about how to clean your hardwood floors, you can easily contact a flooring expert or wherever you
bought your floors from to get their insight on whatever you are planning on doing. That way, you won't ruin your floors, and you will be able to enjoy them
for many more years to come.
